Commercial Electrician
Commercial Electrician Sydney team completed electrical installations in an office room with tables for Defence Australia.

Defence Australia

Lightspeed Electrical carried out this installation alongside Gapcomm projects. We install all the power and lighting for the space, we also designed complete 3D renders that took into account all the right lighting levels. In total, we installed over 100 LED panel lights in the offices and architecture-designed and manufactured linear LEDs in the open cathedral ceilings. We also installed all power requirements for the 50+ new workstations, a new kitchen, and updated bathrooms. The result was a bright, airy, modern space that Defence Australia can be proud of—and one that will help them attract and retain top talent. The Challenge: An Outdated Warehouse in Desperate Need of an Upgrade When Defence Australia approached Lightspeed Electrical about renovating an old warehouse, they knew they needed more than just a power and lighting upgrade. The goal was to create a bright, modern space that would appeal to today’s workforce—but first, they had to overcome some major challenges. Our Solution: A Bright, Airy Workspace That’s Ready for the Future We started by installing LED panel lights in the office area, which brightened up the space and helped cut down on energy costs. We also added linear LEDs throughout the open cathedral ceilings to add ambient light without washing out the room. This gave employees a much more comfortable and functional workspace that would make them want to come to work every day. Builder: Gapcomm projects

Industrial electrical installated of light connectors by Commercial Electrician Sydney in Brookvale.

Australia Post Brookvale

Lighting Design, Connectors, Industrial Overhead Fan Installation (and More) This electrical installation required mass planning and precision installation. From the engineered lighting plan, building strip-out, dismantling and moving industrial fans, installing light connectors, safety devices, power, data, to task lighting – we did it all. Before commencing the month-long project, we prepared lighting schematics. Our team also dismantled huge industrial fans at the Chullora Australia Post site. The building was stripped back as the existing cabling and wiring were outdated. Industrial Warehouse Electrical Installation Industrial Fans and Lights We installed a total of 42 lights in the warehouse plus six emergency spotlights. Three power factor (PE Cells) Photo electric cells and associated control wiring were installed, in addition to eight jumbo (40m) exits. The massive 8m industrial fans we dismantled were installed throughout the warehouse to assist with circulation. Power Connections, Wiring and Circuits An AC isolator was installed to allow the building users to completely disconnect the air-conditioning. Power was connected to the CO panel as well as installation of one communications outlet. Distribution Boards When we were stripping out the old electrical distribution boards (EDB), we found that some could be re-used. Two new EDBs were installed in addition to seven new circuits which were connected to the second EDB: • 48 pole board with a 100-amp switch (EDB-1). • 48 pole distribution board with a 225-amp switch (EDB-2). Other circuits included six 3-phase and 23 RCD circuits. Power and Breakers We installed seven double power points in the communications room. 31 double power points (Clipsal S2000) were installed in the office as well as seven single-phase 20-amp AC isolators. A 15-amp breaker suitable for clocks, lights and small electrical items was also fitted to the office. Data Points and Cables 15 double data points were fitted in the office in addition to a fibre link cable and two data cabinets. The two data cabinets/racks installed were a 45RU and an 18RU data cabinet. Task and Emergency Lighting 23 new long lights covered lighting requirements for the office. Emergency lighting was provided in the form of five spitfire battery-powered emergency lights and an exit light. Six light switches and six motion sensors mounted throughout the office ensure easy control of lighting. Engineered Lighting Designs – Schematics For this project, we were given engineering plans to which we added electrical components. The plans were then forwarded to the builder. Also, the As-Built Diagrams are provided to the client at the end of the project. Supply: Large Industrial Fans – ‘Big Ass Fans’ The brand, ‘Big Ass Fans’ are often used in large industrial warehouses. The Australia Post site in Chullora had two 8m fans available so, we were able to dismantle those and relocate them to Brookvale.

Australia Post Fit Out: Commercial & Industrial Licensed Electricians

Strathfield Gets New Ceiling Lights as a Part of a Modern Mailing Centre Makeover We were tasked with a complete redesign, creating new electrical plans, relocation and fit-out (in eight weeks). The site encompassed an entire block, so its sheer size was included as a factor in our planning. The biggest challenge was to keep Australia Post operating with no loss of productivity. The head mailing centre runs 24/7 – nothing stops the post from being delivered! New buildings require electrical drawings to show exactly what has been installed and where(*1). As the parcel processing machine room was new, we prepared the electrical drawings from scratch. These state-of-the-art machines can process 10,500 parcels per hour! (*2) Stage One: Data, Lighting and Power Wiring We installed: • 10x 3 phase outlets for battery chargers. • 2x new sets of submain caballing for the new switchboards • 2x new switchboards • 10x suspended power outlets • 5x bigass fans • All new cable trays for cable management We readjusted and adapted every time to ensure the project met its exact specifications. Stage Two: Emergency, Architectural, Ceiling and Feature Lights We supplied 140 architectural lights and installed 25 high-bay lighting points. Australia Post had us install an architecturally designed pendant, ceiling, and feature lighting. To reach the ceiling of the massive industrial warehouse, we hired a scissor lift. It was a highly intricate and meticulous job but well worth it. Stage Three: Kitchen Strip Out (in 12 Hours) We had a 12-hour window to: Disconnect power. Safeguard the kitchen before demolition. We systematically identified every cable being used and what could be stripped out (while ensuring not to disrupt Australia Post staff). We finished on time, not long before the demolition team arrived. Stage Four: Installation of Industrial and Commercial Electrical Services We installed all the electrical services that were needed. These included: distribution boards, data outlets, 26 double power points, recessed floor boxes, automated control wiring, and six brand new circuits. Finalising the Project: AsBuilts Before finalising any project, we provide our clients with updated AsBuilts(*3). As We Build (AsBuilts) are electrical drawings (diagrams) that show what has been installed and where. These are essential for future fault-finding or renovations. References: *1. Lightspeed Electrical, contracted by BTF Projects undertaking the Australia Post contract – Full Electrical Wiring Installation. Lightspeed Electrical successfully completed a challenging and strategic electrical fit-out for Australia Post in collaboration with BTF Projects, ensuring a high-end finish while adhering to strict deadlines. The scope included a complete redesign and relocation of staff amenities, training rooms, meeting rooms, and gaming rooms within an eight-week timeframe. The main challenge was keeping Australia Post’s 24/7 operations running smoothly without any loss of productivity. The project began with the strip-out and installation of all new data, power, and lighting cables, executed to the highest standards. Frequent client-driven changes required Lightspeed Electrical to quickly adapt and adjust plans throughout the process. A key feature of this project was the installation of a monitored emergency lighting system, architecturally designed pendent lighting, and intricate feature lighting, which had to be meticulously installed. Stage two involved the strip-out of the old kitchen, with only a 12-hour window to isolate and make it safe for the demolition crew. With multiple circuits coming from different directions, Lightspeed Electrical took a systematic approach to identifying and securing cables, ensuring a safe work environment. Throughout the project, frequent design modifications required continuous adjustments, but Lightspeed Electrical remained flexible, installing all necessary electrical services, including data outlets, power points, recessed floor boxes, automated control wiring, and emergency lighting. Despite the evolving nature of the job, the team’s expertise and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship resulted in a flawless execution. Both the client and contractor were extremely satisfied with the outcome, recognising Lightspeed Electrical’s dedication, professionalism, and ability to deliver outstanding results under demanding conditions.

GRW/Arrow

Office Reception Lighting, Switchboard Relocation, Installation of Electrical Outlet for GRW Arrow. Lightspeed Electrical was engaged by Gapcomm Interiors to undertake their new office fit-outs, involving the strip-out of two tenancies and a complete redesign to create a more functional workplace. The project required a complete electrical design to support staff efficiency. As part of the redesign, the existing switchboards and communications cabinets for both tenancies needed to be relocated. A staged electrical plan was implemented to ensure both businesses remained operational throughout construction. Arrow’s tenancy was the first to undergo the makeover, requiring the disconnection of redundant electrical services and modifications to adjoining walls. The switchboard and submains were relocated without disrupting the construction timeline, and installations of electrical outlets, data outlets, a communications cabinet, RCD safety switches, and lighting adjustments were completed efficiently, preventing any downtime. With Arrow’s office completed, stage two of the project began, focusing on GRW’s tenancy. Due to the 30th June deadline and the demands of tax season, it was essential to complete the fit-out without disrupting business operations. Work progressed systematically, starting with power installation, with all power shutdowns scheduled after hours to avoid inconveniences. Data installation followed, presenting a challenge as the existing communications cabinet needed to remain operational. A strategy was devised to run new cabling to the new communications cabinet and prepare it for a seamless overnight transition. As installations of power outlets, data outlets, and lighting relocations progressed, switchboard circuits were finalized, leaving only the relocation of the mains and communications cabinet. On the final night before handover, the team worked overnight to relocate the mains cables and communications cabinet simultaneously. By 2 AM, power was restored, all installations were tested, and the project was successfully completed on time.
