Lightspeed Electrical partnered with Gapcomm Projects to deliver a complete electrical and data installation for Downer’s Office – Kingsgrove new office. This project wasn’t just about adding power points and lights—it was about creating an environment where connectivity, functionality, and modern office technology work seamlessly together.
The focus was on enhancing connectivity, providing robust and reliable data cabling throughout the space to ensure that staff could access high-speed internet and internal systems without interruption. In addition to structured cabling, we worked to optimize workspace efficiency by carefully planning the layout of power outlets and data ports around the needs of the business, helping to reduce clutter and support a smooth daily workflow.
With more workplaces relying on advanced digital tools, video conferencing systems, and integrated IT networks, the project also placed emphasis on integrating modern office technology. Every electrical and data installation was completed to high professional standards, meeting strict safety requirements while also delivering a smart, future-ready workspace for Downer’s team.

Scope of Work:
- Power & Cable Management: We installed power to 40 new workstations for Downer’s Office, ensuring each desk was equipped with reliable access to electricity for daily operations. To maintain a clean and organized workspace, we implemented overhead cable management systems, effectively keeping cables off the floor and out of the way. This approach not only improved the aesthetics of the office but also reduced trip hazards and made future maintenance easier. The result was a streamlined, efficient workspace that supported productivity and maintained a professional look.
- Advanced Data & WiFi Infrastructure: We equipped the office with Cat6A data cabling, providing a robust and reliable network infrastructure capable of supporting modern business demands, including large data transfers and video conferencing. To complement the wired network, we also strategically placed WiFi access points throughout the space to ensure strong, consistent wireless coverage in all work areas. This combination of high-speed wired and wireless connectivity helped create a flexible, efficient environment where employees could stay connected without interruptions.
- Smart Meeting & Collaboration Spaces: We installed state-of-the-art video conferencing systems in the meeting rooms, ensuring that the office was fully equipped for seamless virtual collaboration with clients, partners, and remote teams. In addition, we mounted TVs throughout the office, providing display solutions for presentations, team briefings, and internal communications. These installations not only enhanced day-to-day communication but also helped create a modern, connected workspace ready to support both in-person and remote interactions.
- Seamless Under-Carpet Ducting: We integrated concealed under-carpet ducting in both the meeting rooms and general office areas, allowing power and data cables to run discreetly beneath the flooring. This eliminated the clutter of visible cables, contributing to a clean, professional finish throughout the space. By keeping cabling hidden and organized, we not only improved the overall aesthetics but also reduced tripping hazards and made the environment safer and more functional for daily use.
- Optimized Floor Space with Cabinet Relocation: We relocated the main communications cabinet to a more strategic position within the office, improving both the efficiency of the overall layout and the accessibility for future expansions or upgrades. This relocation ensured that the IT team would have easier access for maintenance, troubleshooting, or adding new systems down the line. It was a proactive step designed to support scalability, helping the workspace adapt.
